Organic Seeds
Gardening organically using organic seeds
sometimes gets a bad rap from traditional gardeners. It is easier
to raise vegetables, herbs, and flowers from seed using pesticides
to keep them insect- and disease-free, of course. However, organic
seeds really don't require that much extra attention to get off to
a good start.
You might be
wondering how organic seeds differ from regular seeds. Basically,
they do not contain any man-made chemicals - no preservatives,
enhancers, insect repellants, etc.
The advantage
of using organics instead of regular seeds is a source of constant
debate among gardeners. For some, vegetables and herbs produced
from organically pure seeds have a more natural taste and aroma.
Gardeners who prefer a more modern style (non-organic) claim that
this is all in one's head.
Regardless of
where you stand on the question of organic gardening's benefits,
no one disputes that it is more work to organically raise crops
from seed to final product. It's a labor of love, but the reward
of tasting the results can make it all worth the extra sweat.
